Hope Air

Hope Air is a unique national charity that arranges free flights for Canadians who are in financial need and must travel to access health care.

Anishnawbe Health Toronto

Anishnawbe Health Toronto’s model of health care is based on Indigenous culture and traditions and as a result, AHT is the only facility in Toronto that cares for Indigenous clients with both western and traditional approaches to health care.

There’s always room for a furry friend at the terminal to put a smile on your face and we have had many therapy dogs in the terminal.

The St John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog Program brings joy to our passengers and staff alike both pre- and post-security.

Connected North logo

Connected North

Connected North is a program which provides students and teachers in remote and Northern locations with equitable access to educational opportunities. The program supports 160 schools serving over 32,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth across Canada.

In 2023, a donation was made towards their Arts Learning Fund, which enabled 30 arts-based sessions to be delivered during the Spring and Fall.

Indspire is an organization that since 1996, has provided over $217 million in financial support through more than 66,000 bursaries, scholarships and awards to First Nations, Inuit and Métis students.

Through our fund, Indigenous students all over Ontario have been able to apply for bursaries and scholarships throughout 2023 and continue to apply in 2024. More details here.

Daily Bread Food Bank logo

Daily Bread Food Bank

In our city, food banks continue to struggle to keep up with demand, serving more than 2.5 million people in 2023. In 2023, Nieuport and PortsToronto decided more could be done, and got together with Daily Bread and organized a donation drive at the airport. The initiative was introduced to passengers and employees through physical and digital signage containing a QR code placed throughout the terminal building, while a month-long social media campaign captured the attention of the wider community. The campaign raised over $26k for the organization. In addition, staff took time out of their day to help sort food at the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto.

FLY Program

Supporting education is a key component of the Future Leadership for Youth Program (FLY).

As part of the FLY Program, behind-the-scenes tours have been hosted at the airport with various organizations such as the Broad Reach Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the HMCS York Air Cadets. Airport staff led these sessions by giving an overview of their role as well as a unique perspective on how the airport operates.

Support Our Troops

Support Our Troops Art Easel program features artwork that passengers and visitors can bid on. The proceeds support programs for military members, veterans, ill and injured, and their families. Since its inception in 2019, the program has yielded over $37,000 in donations for the military community.

Featuring food vendors, entertainment and lots of maple syrup treats, Sugar Shack welcomes over 10,000 visitors to Sugar Beach every March. Billy Bishop Airport keeps attendees toasty by sponsoring the warming station.

The Bentway Conservancy – Bentway Park logo

The initiative provides much needed recreational space, in an otherwise unusable area that will benefit our neighbours and the larger Toronto community. The project includes an ice skating trail, an amphitheater, a large green lawn, landscape features, and various event spaces which will all be located under the Gardiner and sitting over 45ft above ground.

#NotInMyCity is a facilitative organization that is raising awareness and taking collective action to prevent, disrupt and end sexual exploitation and trafficking, focusing on children and youth. In 2023, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport launched an education program in collaboration with #NotInMyCity to help disrupt human trafficking in our region.
