Billy Bishop Airport Final Public Meeting for 2018 Master Plan Now Underway

Toronto (June 12, 2019) – The third and final public meeting for the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Billy Bishop Airport) 2018 Master Plan is now underway, having commenced at 6:30 p.m. in Room 701A, South Building, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The Draft Master Plan Report is now posted on the project website, kicking-off a 30-day comment period when stakeholders and members of the public can review and provide comments or feedback that will be contemplated and considered in finalizing the draft.

The public meeting will include a presentation on the Draft Airport Master Plan Report by PortsToronto and technical consultants WSP. Following this presentation, the City of Toronto will describe the inter-divisional process it is undertaking to review the Draft Master Plan Report. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentations as subject matter experts will be available to answer questions during the Question and Answer component of the meeting.

Following this meeting a 30-day comments period will begin. All comments should be submitted through the project website by July 14, 2019, at midnight. Once all comments and feedback have been collected, the Master Plan will be finalized and released in August 2019.

The 2018 Master Plan for Billy Bishop Airport is an update of the 2012 Master Plan, which is available on the PortsToronto website. The planning process, which kicked off in late 2017, involved comprehensive public consultation and stakeholder engagement. To date, more than 90 meetings have been held with neighbourhood associations, agencies including First Nations leaders, elected officials, local businesses, airport stakeholders and community groups. The first public meeting was held on February 7, 2018, and the second public meeting was held on June 25, 2018.
