PortsToronto Extends Public Comment Period for Billy Bishop Airport Draft Master Plan to August 14, 2019

Toronto (July 10, 2019) – On June 12 following the release of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport 2018 Draft Master Plan, PortsToronto, the airport’s owner and operator, kicked-off a 30-day public comment period for stakeholders and members of the public to review and provide comment and feedback that will be contemplated and considered in finalizing the plan.

Members of the community have requested that this period be extended to permit more comprehensive review of the draft document. As such, PortsToronto has extended the public comment period by an additional 30-days. All feedback must now be submitted through the project website by August 14, 2019, at midnight. Comments submitted by this deadline will be collected and considered in the finalized plan which will be released in the fall of 2019.

The 2018 Master Plan for Billy Bishop Airport is an update of the 2012 Master Plan, which is available on the PortsToronto website. The planning process, which kicked off in late 2017, involved comprehensive public consultation and stakeholder engagement. To date, more than 90 meetings have been held with neighbourhood associations, agencies including First Nations leaders, elected officials, local businesses, airport stakeholders and community groups. Three public meetings were also held taking place in February 2018, June 2018 and June 2019.
