Ship Channel Bridge Will Close to Marine Traffic January 14 Through to Early-April 2019

Toronto (January 10, 2019) – As part of urgent repairs required to the Ship Channel Bridge lifting system and roadway approaches, the bridge will be closed to marine traffic beginning January 14, 2019 for the duration of approximately 12 weeks.

The restoration work will not impede foot, bicycle or vehicle traffic as the bridge will remain down during the repairs. However, vehicle traffic will be reduced to a single lane on occasion to accommodate the repair work. The bridge will re-open to full commercial marine use early April 2019, in time for the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
