It’s no secret that Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport boasts one of the most photogenic views of our city. In 2016 alone, Billy Bishop Airport was named the sixth Most Scenic Airport Approach by PrivateFly and ranked the fourth best airport by Condé Nast Traveler’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards. With such formidable accolades, it’s no wonder so many of our passengers and visitors snap photographs from our airport every day.

With so many great photographs coming in through our social media channels, it seemed only fair to shine the spotlight on our airport’s un-official photographers. Among the many beautiful photos of our airport on Instagram, one photographer’s stunning work inspired us to reach out and request he collaborate with us for an Instagram takeover. He was invited to temporarily take control of Billy Bishop Airport’s Instagram account and provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the airport.



Duncan Gillespie – also known as @airlineflyingtoronto on social media – enthusiastically agreed to share his photos with our dedicated followers. For two weeks in October, he provided Billy Bishop Airport’s Instagram followers with a first-person view of a day in the life of a pilot.

With close to 2,300 personal followers and garnering hundreds of ‘likes’ per post, it is clear that Duncan’s work is loved by many. Whether posting dramatic aerial views from the cockpit of a Q400 or a float plane to incredible shots of Toronto’s iconic landmarks, Duncan’s work is not to be missed.
