The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, and His Worship John Tory, Mayor of Toronto, join Mark McQueen, Chairman of PortsToronto, in cutting the ribbon to celebrate the opening of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport's pedestrian tunnel. As of 1:30 P.M. today, the new tunnel will provide the 2.4 million passengers who travel through the airport each year with a more convenient and predictable point of access to the airport.

Noise Exposure Contour Reports for Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Now Available Online

The Noise Exposure Contour reports for Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, dating back to 2008, are now available online. The reports were commissioned by Transport Canada, and completed by an external consultant team, at the request of the City of Toronto and confirm that the airport is complaint with its Noise Exposure Forecast (“NEF”) as required under the Tripartite Agreement. The reports were commissioned for the period of 2008 to 2013 and confirm consistent adherence to the noise restrictions imposed on the airport.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is pleased to confirm that it will clear two of its secondary runways to accommodate kilometres 3 and 4 of the Nike Toronto 15K Women’s Run on Toronto Island being held June 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This marks the first time that runways at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport have been used to facilitate such an event and will provide a unique experience for the runners to see the airfield and run along an aircraft runway.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport was named one of the top regional airports in North America at the annual Skytrax World Airport Awards held in Paris, France last evening. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport was named the ninth best regional airport, making it one of only two regional airports in Canada to be recognized in the category. Halifax Stanfield Airport was ranked fourth, with such U.S. airports as Philadelphia, Denver, Cincinnati and Seattle-Tacoma rounding out the list.
