Toronto (April 25, 2017) – Earlier today, Private Fly announced that Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport was voted as having one of the top ten Most Scenic Airport Landings in the world in a global poll. Billy Bishop Airport ranked tenth, making it the only Canadian airport to be recognized alongside airports located in some of the world’s most scenic destinations, including Saba in the Dutch Caribbean, Queenstown Airport in New Zealand, Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport in France, and Gibraltar Airport.

The 2017 list of the top ten Most Scenic Airport Landings is the result of thousands of votes cast by travellers from around the world. Located on the Toronto Islands, Billy Bishop Airport offers the 2.7 million passengers who travel through the airport each year a stunning view of Toronto’s skyline and vibrant harbour as they arrive and depart from the city.

“Business and leisure travellers choose to fly to/from Billy Bishop Airport each year because of our dedication to excellent customer service, amenities such as the pedestrian tunnel, complimentary shuttle service, full-service lounges, convenient location and award winning airlines,” said Geoffrey Wilson, CEO of PortsToronto, owner and operator of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. “Although we can’t take credit for the view, it certainly is an added perk to be able to experience the skyline and have a bird’s-eye view of the harbour as you come into Toronto. We are thrilled to once again be recognized in Private Fly’s World’s Most Scenic Airport Landings poll.”

This recognition from Private Fly is the latest achievement for Billy Bishop Airport in 2017. In March 2017, the airport was named one of North America’s top regional airports by Skytrax World Airport Awards and one of the best airports globally in the under 5 million category. The airport was also named Best Airport in North America in two categories and tied for second globally in the Airports Council International 2016 Airport Service Quality Awards. Additionally, Airports Council International (ACI-NA) Environmental awarded the airport for the Best Noise Mitigation Program. In late 2016, the airport was also ranked fourth Best International Airport by Condé Nast Traveler.
