Outer Harbour Marina Wraps Up Summer

Toronto (October 17, 2013) – The Toronto Port Authority’s Outer Harbour Marina (OHM) is wrapping up another successful boating season following several service and infrastructure improvements.

“The Outer Harbour Marina is one of the city’s most modern, and the improvements we’ve made to it over the past year have served to enhance the customer experience,” says Toronto Port Authority (TPA) President and CEO Geoffrey Wilson.

In 2013, the Marina was almost filled to capacity welcoming 650 boaters to its docks, with 100 being transient boaters visiting the city.

At the end of the 2012 boating season, the TPA opened the city’s first heated indoor boat storage, making the OHM the only marina in Toronto with these facilities. Other improvements include:
·       Upgrading the remainder of the Marina’s 625 docks to a new, state-of-the art docking system that accommodates boats up to 100 feet
·       Opening of a barbeque pavilion
·       Creation of new a paved parking lot
·       A new sales and service office operated by True North Yachts

In 2014 the TPA will make several infrastructure improvements including an upgrade to the OHM’s Wi-Fi system. Additionally there will more food truck days at the OHM in 2014, which proved to be extremely popular among boaters this year.

The OHM has maintained its 5 Green Anchor Gold rating from the Ontario Marina Operators Association, for the second year in a row and is one of the few marinas in the province with this designation. This designation recognizes marinas that follow strict environmental best practices.
