With the theme “In Other Worlds,” this year’s event will present films that feature life outside the ordinary – from galaxies far, far away, to adventures through the wardrobe and down the rabbit hole, this year’s film shortlist offers something for everybody. Two movies in total will be selected by public vote from the following curated shortlist:

  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Labyrinth
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1
  • How to Train Your Dragon
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Space Jam
  • Maleficent
  • Chronicles of Narnia: Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
  • Where the Wild Things Are
  • LEGO: Batman
Voting is open until July 12, 2018, and the two winning films will be announced shortly thereafter. Updates and early polling results will be released on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook throughout the voting period.

Celebrating its eighth year, PortsToronto’s Sail-In Cinema has grown to become a “not-to-be-missed” summer outing for the entire family. For the first time, Sail-In Cinema will use a double-sided, high-definition LED digital screen and custom-configured audio system. Instead of the inflatable screen used in years past, movies will be shown on a screen nearly two-storeys tall which will be anchored to a barge floating in Lake Ontario. It’s a new high-definition viewing experience, but the same unique opportunity to watch your favourite films by land or by boat. During the event, gates will open at 5:00 p.m. each night with pre-show activities beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the movie beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. PortsToronto is delighted to have new and returning partners this year including Menkes, Redpath Sugar, Billy Bishop Airport, CTV and Porter Airlines.
