Sail-In Cinema™ Wins Prestigious Special Events Award

Toronto (June 12, 2013) –Toronto Port Authority (TPA) received an award from the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) at its 2013 National Awards of Excellence, held on June11. TPA won a Silver Award of Excellence in the Best Special Events Project category for Sail-In Cinema™.
 
The CPRS’ National Awards of Excellence recognize outstanding public relations programs and projects from across the country. The awards were established in 1962 and are considered one of Canada’s most prestigious public relations honours.
 
“Sail-In Cinema is a one of a kind event that brings the city and community together at the water’s edge,” said TPA President and CEO Geoffrey Wilson. “Receiving this award from CPRS is an honour and motivates TPA to makes this year’s Sail-In Cinema our most successful yet.”
 
Sail-In Cinema™ is an annual event held at Toronto’s Sugar Beach for three nights in August. Sugar Beach is transformed into Toronto’s largest outdoor theatre where films are shown on a two-sided drive-in screen set on a barge in Lake Ontario and can be viewed from land or lake. Sail-In Cinema™ has been recognized in the past by Marketing Magazine’s Marketing Awards and the Advertising & Design Club of Canada as one of Canada’s best special events.
