Billy Bishop Airport to Resume Dock Wall Conditions Assessment With New Temporary Noise Barriers

Toronto (May 22, 2018) – Beginning on May 24, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Billy Bishop Airport) will resume the examination of the airport dock wall as part of anticipated repair and rehabilitation activities. The associated work will be undertaken with new temporary noise barriers to minimize community impact.

In order to develop an appropriate approach for the dock wall repairs, and to assess the current condition of the wall, small exploratory holes will be drilled. Drilling will take place along the Western Gap’s south dock wall from the Ferry Terminal to the end of the Noise Barrier wall.

New temporary noise barriers will be mounted and moved alongside the borehole equipment in order to minimize the impact of the drilling on the community. The barriers can effectively reduce noise related to the work by up to 20 decibels.

Crews will be onsite from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. from Thursday, May 24 to Tuesday, May 29. Some parking spots along the dock wall will be unavailable to the public during this time as they will be used by crew and their equipment. No work will take place over the weekend or during evening or nighttime hours.

Billy Bishop Airport will continue to make best efforts to minimize disruption and regrets any inconvenience this work may cause.
