Maanjidowin: The Gathering Sculpture

This large-scale granite and bronze sculpture features three mythical fishers who have come to the estuaries and islands along Toronto's Lake Ontario shoreline to fish. Maanjidowin: The Gathering was commissioned by PortsToronto in recognition of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and their relationship to the land, air and water on which Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport now operates.

The PortsToronto Trash Trapping Program employs trash trapping technology and solutions-based research to tackle plastic pollution and protect Toronto's waters for future generations. It is led by PortsToronto and the U of T Trash Team; is a cornerstone of the Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy; and, has influenced the launch of similar trash trapping and data collection programs throughout the Great Lakes and beyond.

Cruise Ship Terminal

The Port of Toronto’s location ten minutes from the city's downtown makes it the ideal location for cruise ships and passengers wanting the attractions, food and shopping that Toronto has to offer. In 2025, a record 47 ships and 20,000 passengers are expected to arrive at the Port to visit the city and its attractions.

Shagi Mural

The Shagi mural at the Port of Toronto Cruise Ship Terminal was created by Anishinabek artist Que Rock and represents the Clan of the Cranes with its central figure of the Great Blue Heron. Its symbolism and vibrant colours are intended to create a visual healing experience and to welcome visitors to the Port and Harbour of Toronto.

Dredging

To prevent flooding, PortsToronto removes between 20,000 and 40,000 cubic metres of sediment from the mouth of the Don River in a process that removes natural sediment to deepen the riverbed and ensure improved flow of water and safer access.
