Toronto (August 12, 2016) – PortsToronto, owners and operators of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Billy Bishop Airport), today confirmed that approximately 258,000 passengers arrived and departed through the airport in July 2016, marking the busiest month in the airport’s history for the second month in a row. Both Porter Airlines and Air Canada contributed to the high passenger numbers, which were a combination of leisure and business travellers.

“Last month we announced that we had hit a new record with 250,000 passengers travelling through Billy Bishop Airport,” said Gene Cabral, Executive Vice President, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and PortsToronto. “We are happy to say that in July we beat this record welcoming approximately 258,000 through our doors. Our airport has long been the airport of choice among business travellers, but we are seeing more and more leisure travellers and at no time is that more apparent than in the summer when fun destinations such as New York, Halifax and Montreal beckon. With a lower Canadian dollar we are seeing more leisure travel within Canada and our airport is the perfect destination and departure point to take in the sites of eastern Canada.”
